Today, I want to talk to you all about “How to hire a Landscape Designer.” A little back story before we begin. I have a degree in Landscape Architecture from University of Massachusetts, I have been in the business for over 30 years. Now, that’s not everything…
I truly believe in order to find the perfect Landscape Designer you need to find someone who loves what they do AND is excited about what they can create as if it is their own space (You guys pay me to play in your back yard, I think that’s so cool!)

Next, you want to make sure the Designer asks YOU what you want from YOUR space. Not everyone wants the same things. Some may want something simply like a fire pit or maybe a little more tranquil and have a koi pond or water fall. Your space is your space. Also, you need to make sure you get a design to show you 1) that they were listening to what you want, and it is put in the design and 2) to visually show you how it will be laid out to scale.

The last thing, simple but, I feel its important enough to say it. They NEED to show up on time. If they are late to the appointment you could run into issues like your job not starting on time or them running behind to finish yours and may even rush your job to get back on their schedule. Punctuality makes jobs run smooth and your design come to life!
